SPI Digital Health: Larger Vendors Exert Gravitational Pull Among UK ICSs

Published: October 3, 2023

One of the last trusts in England to still use paper-based patient records will finally move to an electronic patient record (EPR) following news that it had inked a £44M, 10-year deal with leading international EHR vendor Oracle Health.

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust, which is part of the North East London Integrated Care System (ICS) – one of 42 ICSs in England – will, it has been confirmed, use Oracle Health’s Millennium EHR solution.

According to reports, the North East London ICS will provide £10M of the funding required for the EPR project, the trust itself will provide £12M from its capital budget, and the balance being allocated from England’s national frontline digitisation programme.
