SPI Digital Health: Making Sense of Harris Computer’s Acquisition Strategy

In a world of billion-dollar acquisitions, Harris Computer’s $6.3M purchase last month of the US non-core assets of Canadian provider CloudMD Software & Services Inc barely registers on digital health’s Richter scale. But it does offer a glimpse into the machinations of Harris Computer’s empire-building strategy.

Publicly-listed CloudMD’s decision to sell its ‘non-core’ US electronic medical record (EMR), practice management and revenue cycle management assets to Harris Computer, an operating group of Constellation Software Inc, follows the sale of its Canadian EMR business to compatriot digital health IT vendor WELL Health for around $5.75M in October 2022.
