Signify Premium Insight: Opportunities in Independence for iCAD and Google

iCAD and Google have recently expanded their agreement to incorporate the Mountain View company’s artificial intelligence capability into the breast health vendor’s 2D mammography suite, building on an initial agreement announced in November 2022.
The expansion sees the term of the agreement extended to 20 years and assuming regulatory approval is forthcoming, could pave the way for iCAD’s Breast Health suite to serve as the second reader in breast cancer screenings.
Such an initiative could prove beneficial for iCAD, better equipping it to grow, by targeting the currently underserved European markets. Impacts could be broader, however, and such moves could help AI fulfil its promise of mitigating radiologist shortages.
