Signify Premium Insight: NHS Puts £10bn up for Grabs for Community Diagnostic Hubs with Imaging Front and Centre

Published: July 20, 2021

National Health Service (NHS) England has advertised a £10bn NHS framework contract, inviting companies to bid to run 150 new community diagnostic facilities, including substantial opportunity for new medical imaging technology.

The invitation to tender is focused on establishing the framework, which will allow NHS England and other NHS bodies to have the ability to award contracts or sub-contracts for a range of clinical services that can be provided from community diagnostic hubs. These “hubs” will include MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray systems, alongside a broader range diagnostic technology (endoscopy, pathology, cardio-respiratory monitors). These hubs are one of the key recommendations put forward in a review of NHS England’s diagnostic services in October last year and are hoped to address many of the shortcomings within the NHS’s delivery of diagnostic services.
