SPI Digital Health: Teladoc Takes Plunge with Nuance DAX and OpenAI but Will Profitability Follow?

Last month, US telehealth vendor Teladoc unveiled a deal with Microsoft under which it will use the tech giant’s Nuance DAX voice dictation tool, alongside elements of Microsoft’s OpenAI generative AI tools, to automate clinical documentation on the Teladoc platform. 

Announcing the tie-up (which extends a collaboration that started during COVID in 2021), Teladoc said integrating Nuance DAX’s AI-powered voice dictation software into its platform will ease the burden on Teladoc physicians performing virtual consultations by automating the documentation of patient encounters.
