SPI Medical Imaging: Leica and Sectra’s Standardisation Push for Pathology

In late April, Sectra announced that its digital pathology solution, together with Leica Biosystems Imaging Inc.’s Aperio GT 450 DX had received FDA clearance. The pathology solution is part of Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution, which the vendor highlights as scalable and modular, allowing healthcare providers to “grow from ology to ology and enterprise to enterprise.”

As the first FDA clearance for a native DICOM digital pathology solution, this may signal an uptick of DICOM adoption in pathology in the US market and the streamlining of pathology’s integration within enterprise imaging.
