Last month, Micro-X, an Australian X-ray technology company, provided a first look at the workflow for its new mobile stroke diagnosis technology. The company’s lightweight CT scanner is designed to be integrated into any road or air-ambulance, converting it into a Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU). Micro-X boasts that the scanner provides rapid CT imaging, delivering high-resolution images of the brain for stroke diagnosis with a simple workflow and a cost-effective design to enable widespread deployment.
The need for improved point of care stroke diagnosis and treatment is growing; however, Micro-X is not the only company developing disruptive solutions for this clinical application, and it has a long way to go before it can commercialise its technology.
